📜 About Chit Borei District, Kratie Province
The name Chit Borei District was named after King Chitrasena, also known as King Mahendravarman, who ruled around 600–615 AD in the royal city of Sambhupura, located in today’s Sambour District of Kratie Province. He was an important monarch who unified the territories of Chenla and Nokor Phnom (Funan), and a powerful military leader who strengthened the Khmer Kingdom.

The reign of King Mahendravarman is confirmed through several stone inscriptions such as K.122, K.926, K.927 found in Kratie Province, and inscriptions K.616, K.624, K.626, K.627. Many inscriptions from this period have also been found in present-day Thailand and Laos, indicating the wide influence of the Khmer Empire during that time.
